Contact lenses
A fitting, a lesson and a follow-up
Contact lenses are fitted by a doctor, and every wearer learns how to handle them.
A contact lens fitting is its own visit, separate from a routine eye exam. We measure the eye, choose a lens, and teach you how to put it in, take it out and care for it. For children, a parent comes to the lesson too.

The steps
From the first trial to the follow-up
- About 30 minutes01
Fitting
We measure the eye and choose a lens to try.
- 02
Trial lenses
You wear a trial pair and check how they feel and how you see.
- 03
Handling lesson
You put the lenses in and take them out in the office until you are comfortable, with a parent beside a child.
- 04
Follow-up
We check the fit and the health of the eye after a short time of wear, and then at each yearly exam.
For myopia control
Daytime and overnight lenses for nearsighted children
Dual-focus daily contact lenses are approved by the FDA for children 8 to 12 at the start of treatment. Overnight lenses (orthokeratology) are approved for temporary correction of nearsightedness, and using them to slow myopia is off-label. Both carry a risk of eye infection, and your doctor explains it. Results vary.

Your prescription is yours
Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy of your contact lens prescription once your fitting is complete, and you can fill it anywhere.
About contact lenses
Is my child old enough for contact lenses?
There is no single age. The doctor looks at how your child handles things, how motivated they are and whether a parent can help. Many families start with a trial.
Can I have my contact lens prescription?
Yes. You get a copy when the fitting is complete.
